Friendships

We all have them. Some last a little while and some last forever. Some we met years ago and some we haven't even met yet. Some are crazy and some put us in our place when needed. I'm talking about friends.

We meet friends in the neighborhood growing up, then in school, then in college, then at work, then when we have kids etc...

I found this quote and it fits exactly what I'm about to talk about...

"If you are brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting which can be anything from your house to bitter old resentments and set out on a truth-seeking journey either externally or internally... And if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue... And, if you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher... If you are prepared, most of all, to face and forgive some realities, then the truth will not be withheld from you."


For me I started really noticing things about some friendships I had when I was pregnant with Presley. I've always been the type of person that will be the first person to call a friend to congratulate them or call to schedule a time to see each other. Being so busy with baby things though I didn't have as much time for that and I noticed that a certain few friends never really called. I thought maybe I was being dumb but as time went by, nothing. I was so excited to have the nursery done and ready for baby and was excited to show two friends that never came. It happened again when Presley was born. No visit and eventually a call that came way too late. I'm not sad about it but I was hurt. Now, I'm over it. I'm also over trying to have a friendship with them when their wasn't really a friendship there in the first place like I thought. Many wonderful, amazing friends came to see the nursery and celebrated the joys of my pregnancy with me :) I'm blessed to have amazing friendships some really old and also some that are new. God puts people in your life for a reason and some aren't meant to stay around forever. It doesn't mean you don't wish them well and want to see them happy.

I'm extremely happy with the friends and friendships I have. The ones I am close to know I would do anything for them and I know they would do anything for me :) Having a baby really does change everything even the way you look at friendships I guess, lol.

Presley Update: He played on his play mat again and he LOVES it. He is really starting to hit all the toys and stare them down. I have video of it I will post soon! I got the cd of the 1 month pictures of him and here are a few of my FAVS :)

Now I have to go snuggle with my shug :)

Presley's First Shot

Today waa Presley's 1 month checkup. He is doing GREAT! He is 22 1/4 inches long and 8 pounds 15 ounces. He is gaining weight so daddy can rest easy now. Breastfeeding does work yippee! Now maybe he will stay off my case a little on how much he is eating LOL. He had to get his first shot and let me tell you that was NO FUN :( People told me there would be a loittle pause inbetween the shot and when he would cry. When the nurse put the needle to his skin he lost his marbles. Poor baby hated it and I don't blame him. I was sad and daddy came in and swooped him up and comforted him before I even had the chance to grab him. It was cute. It was like he was superdad or something :)

Tonight Shane is on night duty. I am finally to the point where I am so tired I have to get some rest. I try my hardest to never have Shane do night duty since he has to get up and go to work but I am in desperate need of some sleep. I took a bath tonight and fell asleep in there for over an hour. Sad? Yes. But hey, you sleep wherever you can haha.

Presley SMILED!

Today was a very big day for several reasons. The most important being that when daddy left for work this morning, I was making faces and noises to try and make Presley laugh. Today is the first day I could really notice him following me and looking straight at me like he knew who I was. As I was making all the crazy sounds (that people would laugh at me for if they heard) he SMILED at me. He thought I was funny! It made my heart melt. I tried multiple other times and I didn't get the same smile I did the first time. I immediately texted Shane to share the news. It's so neat watching him grown and learn new things. This is only the beginning and it's so much fun!

Today my mom came and watched Presley for a few hours while I went and got my hair done. I got BANGS! I have wanted them for about 6 months, I always told Shane I wanted them but I was scared to actually do it. Today I did it and I LOVE them! Here is my new bangs :)

Tomorrow is Pres's 1 month checkup and he has to get his first shots :( I am probably going to cry and be real sad afterwards. I just love my little man so much and if he cries I will cry at this point. I will get tougher but I'm a sissy right now. One good thing is that after tomorrow he will be clear to go out and do some things with momma :) I can't stand leaving him yet for even a second.

Presley is 1 MONTH OLD!!

Today was a big day in the Robertson household. Presley turned 1 month old!! I can't believe it has already been a month. Time really does fly! I can't even imagine what my life was like before he came along. I mean, Shane and I watched TV, went to dinner, hung out with friends etc...but nothing was near as much fun as having a baby. Presley makes everything more fun. I wouldn't trade all the times I have to put his binkie back in his mouth for anything in the world. He is gaining weight and doing great! Here is a pic of his 1 month onesie :)

Mike and Lindsey came to visit us today and are staying until tomorrow. We went to the new Water Front Grille tonight and it was YUMMO! Presley slept the ENTIRE time we were there. We love Mike and Lindsey and want them to have a kid pronto! heehee :)

He is following things now and smiles when he sleeps :) It's the cutest thing I have ever seen.

What are your thoughts about the past month?

I have had the best month of my life. I have a little partner in crime now and he makes everyday better than the last. I never knew I could love someone so much. He is my world and daddy's too!

What was baby's routine?

Pres usually eats about every 2 hours during the day but he sleeps for around 4 hours at a time at night! I am getting more sleep than I thought I would so I can't complain :) It's not solid sleep but it's enough for me. The past week he has started staying up more which I love. He will look around and he has started staring at the TV and watching people leave the room. 

What are baby's favorites - toy, food, person, etc...

Presley's favorite toy right now is a little lamb that lights up and plays music.

1 Month Until We Move!

So we are a month away from MOVING!!!!! Yay! I am so ready it's not even funny. Today Adam and Sami came over and Adam graciously fixed the bathroom and will finish everything up tomorrow! When they walked in Sami had a box of GINGER ALE in her hands for ME!!! They are just the most thoughtful friends :) While Adam and Shane did that, Sami and I went to Barnes and Noble for a bit. Presley did SO good at B&N I just couldn't believe it. We had our first "Changing Station" experience and he didn't cry which made me happy :) It was located in a bathroom stall instead of out in the open which I thought was nice. It's funny I never thought about changing tables before and now I notice anywhere that doesn't have them available. While we were at Barnes and Noble Joanna (our good friend from church) and her sis Melinda (Shane's good friend from Walmart...well and mine now too) came by to see Presley. It was a nice treat and I just love them.

We have started packing up our things, mainly in the kitchen area and our garage is already full. We are having a GIGANTIC garage sale April 2nd and 3rd so a lot of it is for that as well. I'm going to list our house this week so if people want to see the garage they will think we are hoarders LOL and we definitely are NOT.

I have some exciting My Vintage Baby news that I will be announcing soon!! Lots of fun things in store for the company! I have several parties lined up just waiting on date confirmations so it's pretty exciting! I'm waiting on my leopard print hangers to come in and then I will have everything needed to throw fabulous parties!

In other news, The Real Houswives of O.C. starts tonight and I can't wait! Oh and NeNe is on Celebrity Apprentice tonight and America's Next Great Restaurant starts tonight so it's a full evening of TV for the Robertson's :)

My Night To Sleep

What happens when you have an incredible, sweet, handsome and sometimes over analyzing husband?? You get the night of and get to SLEEP!!!!!!! I threw the over analyzing in there because tonight like every night, Shane wonders if Presley get's enough to eat since I am nursing. The answer is...YES.  It makes me laugh and also annoys me but it's really cute that he cares so much. Millions of moms breastfeed and their babies don't wither away. Pres is gaining weight and doing great!

Now, back to the sleep issue. I should be asleep now BUT the problem is I can't sleep. I already miss Presley and he is literally in the next room, LOL. My sleep schedule has been messed up for several months before he was even born. I would love to say I will get a good nights sleep but with waking up to pump I doubt that will happen. I never thought I would say it but I could really care less about not getting a solid 8 hours of sleep. I'm gonna do my best to get some rest but I know I will have to sneak in and just look at him a few times. Every hour. Every minute. Who knows :)

We have started giving Pres bath's and he LOVES them!!!! He is gonna be a little fish I can already tell. Here is a cute pic of him during his first "bath" when he got home. It's hilarous :)

I'm also getting excited about EASTER! It's still a while away but I'm already thinking about how I will dye easter eggs for him and I found a cool new way to do them! I'm real excited and I will post about it once I know it works. It sounds to good to be true but it's a really neat way to dye eggs!

Tomorrow it's off to Norman for the day! I can't wait to take Pres back where I spent my college days. I have so many fun memories in Norman. College was the best time of my life up until I got married and had Presley.  I'm also gonna show him the future stadium he will play football at! Just kidding, but I would love it :)

"Presh"ley

Presley has a new nickname thanks to our friend Adam and it's "Presh"ley. I love it and thought I would share :) Today Presley got his very first piece of mail!!! I freaked out a little when Shane brought the mail in because I thought it was so cute.

Presley is changing every day and he just gets cuter and cuter. Today we ventured out of the house to go let the dogs out at my parents since they went to K.C. to take my old car to its new owners. I know fun right?!?! I was just happy to get out of the house for a minute. He did great in the car, he never cried and he just slept the entire time. On March 15th, we will be able to FINALLY go out in public once he gets his next shots. I am looking forward to that day and I know he is too, haha. I'm such a busy body by nature but I've done better than expected just staying in the house. We take naps, I stare at him for hours, then take more naps and stare at him for hours. That's pretty much how our days go. I love watching him sleep because he's started to SMILE in his sleep. I can't get enough of it. His eyes are also starting to get glassy when he cries. Newborns don't have actual tears and I don't know what's going to happen when I see the first tear. I know I will probably cry seeing him cry.

Speaking of crying, we are very lucky parents if you ask me. Pres only cries when he is wet or is hungry. To this day he hasn't cried once where I didn't already know what he needed. I'm sure the day will come when that does happen, but I am proud of my boy for being so great :) He's such a good baby and it makes momma happy! 

We are discovering that we aren't big fans of Huggies diapers. Pampers seem to fit him MUCH better. Tonight we gave him a bath and then about 10 minutes later he peed and it went straight out of his diaper, all over his back and on to the blankets he was laying on. It was a panic moment and also made us laugh because I know this will be something we will look back on one day. 

He's also starting to make little sounds and it's really cute. Sometimes he will just start making noses for no reason and I think he is just doing it because now he can. It's neat watching him discover EVERYTHING. It's gonna be fun seeing the world through his eyes. It seem's like there is so much we are blind to or ignore as we get older.
